Guided Tours

There is a range for you to choose from, which include heritage pubs and wine tastings, lakes and waterfalls, local coffee and tea tastings.
You may wish to combine your own choice for your private tour. Morning or afternoon tea are included in your guided tour price.

All tours are guided and are quoted for at least a 2 hour period. Tours must be pre-booked.

Chilverton Cottages Location
Chilverton Cottages is ideally located 12 kilometres north of Ravenshoe and there are many natural and man made attractions nearby.
The climate of the area has created three environments — Wet Tropical Rainforest, Schlerophyll Forest and Australian Outback all within a 15km radius!
Chilverton Cottages near Ravenshoe allows easy access to the Atherton Tablelands and is only a two hour drive from Cairns.

Wind Farm
Windy Hill has at present 20 wind turbines generating 22 megawatts, with a further 22 to be erected. Dairy cows graze peacefully below the towers. At over 46 metres tall, the windmills are an awesome sight!

Mt Hypipamee
The Crater has a diameter of 61 metres, a 58 metre drop to water, and further 120 metres under water. Scientists have only theories of its geological origin. Dinner Falls is a thirty minute return walk with a diversity of vegetation from rainforest to open eucalyptus forest.

Ravenshoe
Queensland’s highest town, 920 metres above sea level, where the rainforest meets the dry outback. This historic timber town has a number of art galleries, craft shops,and is home to Railco historical railway station and steam train.

Millaa Millaa Loop
Explore the hills and waterfalls of the Atherton Tablelands. From Millstream Retreat take the Old Palmerston Highway and enjoy the abundant waterfalls — Pepina, Souita, Ellinjaa, Zillie and the famous Millaa Millaa Falls.

Millstream Falls
Have you seen Australia’s widest falls? Basalt volcanic formations have created a 60 metre wide fall. Army Pools was a major W.W.II Training camp site. Millstream National Park has great swimming holes.

Koombaloomba Dam
At the end of the Tully Gorge are spectacular views, falls and beautiful Koombaloomba Dam. Surrounded by rainforest, this fisherman’s paradise has picnic and water sports areas.

Innot Hot Springs
Hot water bubbles through the sandy bed of Nettle Creek. Either dig a hole in the creek bed or enjoy the mineral waters in the spa’s and pools of the Health Village Caravan Park.

Misty Mountains
Australia’s first network of long distance walking trails in a high altitude rainforest is only minutes from Millstream Retreat. Take a short walk of only a few kilometres or recover with us after doing the whole 130 kilometres! Pick ups can be arranged.

Yungaburra
This popular tourist town is near the Lakes district — Lake Tinaroo, Lake Eacham and Lake Barrine. Discover the Curtain and Cathedral Fig trees. Shop at Yungaburra Markets, fourth Saturday of the month.

Undara Lava Tubes
The huge hollow volcanic tubes were formed by lava flows. Some sections are large enough to accommodate a two story house.

Herberton and Irvinebank
These charming historical mining towns feature old time architecture, some heritage listed buildings and a sense of living history.
